Moving Out In Faith
God has a way of reminding you where He has brought you from. On the way home one day, I glanced through the rear view mirror and saw a vehicle from a business I used to work at several years ago. One of my responsibilities included driving this HUGE vehicle, which I didn’t particularly like to do because I’m a very small woman. However, what could I do? Duty called and I answered. Plus, the job was easy and my family needed the additional salary.
As I peered through the rear view mirror the Lord began to speak, “You see that vehicle? You would still be driving that vehicle and wouldn’t be where you are today if you hadn’t overcome your fears and moved out in faith.”
As I thought about the vehicle in my rear view mirror I began to think about how many people miss opportunities to advance and possess their next level of blessing. They settle for where they’re at or become paralyzed by fear and don’t move out in faith.
Although I was grateful to have my old job, at times I became so frustrated, because I knew I was capable of so much more. It was during those times of frustration that the Holy Spirit started nudging me to face my fears and inhibitions by stepping out in faith towards my dreams. As a response to the nudges, I enrolled in college and several courses to train for what I really wanted to do, and then eventually started my businesses.
Have you realized that it’s so easy to tolerate the frustrations of life, succumb to complacency, and settle for what’s easy when fear is staring you in the face? Looking back at my experience, I want to encourage you take what may seem to be a hard step of faith and move towards your goals. For the remainder of the year and into the coming year, I challenge you to live life fearlessly and without any regrets. In doing so, as you look through the “rear view mirror of your life” you’ll be able to see where you’ve come from and be encouraged to keep reaching for each new level God has in store for you, and occupy the places He has prepared for you. I did it and so can you!
